Characterisation of a highly virulent emergent clone of Enteroinvasive Escherichia coli circulating in Europe. EIEC strains circulating in Europe

EIEC strains have been isolated as causative agents of diarrhoeal cases and outbreaks in Europe in the time span 2012-2014. This study was aimed at comparing the genomic content of O96 EIEC strains isolated in Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom with that of reference EIEC and Shigella strains.
