资源简介:

Friederich Muench (1799-1881) was an author, teacher, Lutheran minister, farmer and winemaker, and Missouri State Senator. In 1834 he emigrated to Missouri via Baltimore along with friend Paul Follenius and 500 members of the Gie?ener Auswanderungsgesellschaft (Giessen Emigration Society), which had been founded in Germany by the pair. Muench and his family settled in the Lake Creek area in Warren County near Paul Follenius and Gottfried Duden, whose writing lauding rural Missouri attracted thousands of German emigrants to the state beginning in the 1830s. Generations of Muench's descendants remained in Missouri.

The Muench Family Photograph Collection contains one box of photographs documenting multiple generations of the Muench family in Missouri from about 1865 to 2012. It primarily consists of identified portraits of family members, but it also contains images of Muench property including farming activities, Muench family graves, and ancestral homesteads.
