Using the sleep sensors of smart beds with a 5-minute time window, data on the user's body movements and nighttime in-bed signal strength for that night are collected. Specifically, the nighttime in-bed signal strength: 0 indicates the user is out of bed, while non-zero values indicate the user is in bed; there are 5 levels of nighttime body movements, where 0 means no body movement occurs, and 1-4 represent the intensity level of the user's body movements, with higher values indicating stronger movements. Based on the in-bed signal strength data, we search for the transition point from out of bed to in bed starting from the start time of the dataset, i.e., the point where the signal value changes from 0 to non-zero. We extract the 20-minute data before and after this transition point. If the sum of body movements in the 20 minutes after the transition point minus the sum of body movements in the 20 minutes before the transition point is greater than 20 (meaning more body movements occur after entering the bed than before), and the proportion of non-zero in-bed signal strength values in the 20 minutes after the transition point is greater than 0.8, then this transition point is identified as the bedtime point. If multiple such bedtime points are found during the traversal process, the first one is taken as the user's official bedtime.
