Evolution of Pseudomonas aeruginosa ST299 in hospital water systems

Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) is an opportunistic premise plumbing pathogen characterized by a large core-genome that confers adaptive capacities and resistance to antibiotics/biocides. Its complex population structure includes epidemic high-risk genotypes particularly successful in healthcare-associated infections, especially in intensive care units (ICU). Genomic characters related to PA adaptation and survival in hospital water networks remain poorly described but necessary for sustainable water management in hospitals.
