Arachis stenosperma Transcriptome or Gene expression

Arachis stenosperma harbors resistances to a number of pests, including foliar fungi. A transcriptome analysis using 454 GS-FLX sequencing technology from cDNA collections from leaf and roots generated a total of 362,631 sequence reads which were assembled in 7,723 contigs. Sequence assembly data was used to sample large numbers of expressed genes and also to detect simple sequence repeats (SSRs) for reference mapping populations. This study should facilitate basic and applied research on the genetics and evolutionary studies of peanut, contributes to the development of molecular markers for other legumes and facilitate comparative genomics and the study of adaptive variation across the genus.
