Millard Piercy Watershed Stewards long term water quality monitoring program

MPWS is a volunteer-based non-profit organization whose mission is to promote community stewardship to help ensure long-term watershed sustainability. The Stewards work to assess, restore and maintain healthy ecosystems in the Millard Piercy watershed that continue to support native salmonids and other wildlife.

As part of this work, MPWS participates in the Community Water Monitoring Initiative (CWMI), a collaboration among local stewardship groups and government partners to support long-term watershed health in the Comox Valley and beyond. Participating groups collect high-quality baseline data using a shared methodology aligned with BC provincial standards. This regional dataset allows us to track the impacts of climate change, industry, land use, development, and other local stressors on freshwater ecosystems, providing valuable information to guide conservation and management efforts.
