Rat skeletal muscle derived stem cells were grown in the presence of cholesterol or sodium palmitate in 1 mM glucose (low) or 4 mM glucose (high) RNA was extracted using the RNeasy Plus Micro kit and analyzed at UCLA by the Affymetrix rat Gene 2.0 ST chip. Overall design: Muscle derived stem cells from male rats were isolated and grown. Cells in six well plates were subjected to 100 mg/dl cholesterol or sodium palmitate. RNA was isolated using the Qiagen RNeasy Plus Micro kit and subjected to analysis by DNA microarray using the Affymetrix rat Gene 2.0 ST chip.
