These samples contain bacterial and fungal sequences from microbial communities which developed over thirty days of pine needle decomposition in laboratory microcosms. The pine needles were not sterile, and some microcosms were also inoculated with microbial communities extracted from soils. The remaining microcosms were not inoculated.
