Evolution of m6A related genes in insects and function of METTL3 in embryonic development of silkworm

Our transcriptome investigations revealed significant alterations in DEGs associated with many fundamental metabolism processes, such as carbon metabolism, purine metabolism, biosynthesis of amino acids and citrate cycle. Interestingly, knockdown of METTL3 significantly affected Wnt and Toll/Imd pathways in embryonic stage. The results suggest that METTL3 plays an important role in the embryonic development of B. mori. This study deepens our understanding of the function of m6A related genes in insects.
