The data provided here were created by the contributors. As described in detail in the article titled " Effects of merged holes, partial thread removal, and offset holes on fatigue strengths of titanium locking plates " (Clinical Biomechanics, 2022), optimization analyses of the merged holes and parametric analyses of offset holes in locking plates were conducted. The aim is to obtain robust locking plate designs with minimal stress at the screw hole. The finite element analyses were validated by mechanical tests. These combined mathematical and experimental models are useful in research and development of the orthopedic implants. The data and supplementary materials in this repository include: 1. Locking plate model descriptions (*.x_t file): Geometries and dimensions of the locking plate models that are analyzed. 2. ANSYS files for the optimization, parametric and comparative analyses (*.wbpz). 3. Summary of the finite element process for each analysis (*.xlsx). 4. Mechanical test results: (a) Raw data fatigue lives of the three types of the plates (*.tif); (b) Summary of the test results (*.doc).
