Among the species of the Acinetobacter genus, Acinetobacter baumanni is the most commonlyfound from biological samples. Initially, A. baumanni was classified as a low virulencepathogen, however, research has shown its high infectious capacity than previously reported,making it a critical clinical problem due to the limited therapeutic options for treatment ofinfections. Furthermore, it has presented potential environmental risk, subject to anthropogenicpressure such as wastewater and effluent systems, facilitating the dispose of high multiresistantbacterial loads into the environment, making it difficult to predict the destination they aredischarged. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the resistome of strains of amultiresistant A. baumannii from clinical and environmental samples, identifying andcomparing, phenotypically and genotypically, the mechanisms of resistance.
