To locate the full gene cluster encoding for the production of compounds 1-3, especially the new scaffold globismycin A (3). The complete genome for S. globisporus SCSIO LCY12 was sequenced. Bioinformatics analyses revealed only one type II PKS gene cluster within the SCSIO LCY12 genome with high similarities to the reported medermycin and actinorhodin BGCs. Thus, we envisioned this BGC, termed herein sgl to account for 1-3 biosynthesis.
