Environmental Assessment for Amendment 15 to the Fishery Management Plan (FMP) for the Groundfish of the Gulf of Alaska (GOA)

The domestic and foreign groundfish fishery in the fishery conservation zone (3-200 miles offshore) of the Gulf of Alaska is managed under the Fishery Management Plan for Groundfish of the Gulf of Alaska (FMP). The FMP was developed by the North Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) under the Magnuson Fishery Conservation and Management Act (FCMA). It was approved by the Assistant Administrator for Fisheries, NOAA, (Assistant Administrator) and implemented December 1, 1978 (43 FR 52709, November 14, 1978). Amendments 1-11, 13, and 14 to the FMP have been approved by the Assistant Administrator. Amendment 12 was adopted initially by the Council at its July and December 1982 meetings but was later rescinded by the Council at its September 1984 meeting without having been submitted formally for Secretarial review. 1986 NMFS (National Marine Fisheries Service) Library Public Domain 1861
