American and Chinese chestnut sequencing

These data were generated from The American Chestnut Foundation's backcross breeding program, with additional sampling of wild trees for both American chestnut (Castanea dentata) and Chinese chestnut (Castanea mollissima). Backcross progeny were sequenced (initial F1 hybridization between C. dentata and C. mollissima followed by three backcross generations to C. dentata and finally one intercross generation). In addition samples from wild collections were sequenced for each of the parental species. The goal of this project is to use genomic selection to predict resistance to Cryphonectria parasitica infection in the backcross breeding program, and infer parental haplotypes.
