RNA-seq analysis on isolated neonatal and adult peritoneal macrophages shows neonatal macrophages enriched for the tumor associated macrophage gene set and negative association with antigen processing and presentation and phagocytosis gene sets. Moreover, after being <i>in vitro</i> incubated with neonatal serum, adult macrophages were converted into the neonatal phenotype, and this conversion was dependent on the acquisition of lipids from neonatal serum. Consistently, feeding adult mice with whole milk not only increased in serum lipid content but also converted their macrophages into the TAM-like phenotype. The RNA seq data for adult mouse serum (AS) and neonate mouse serum (NS) were include in the file <i>AS and NS treated macrophages RNA seq RPKM data</i>. The RNA seq data for ex vivo macrophages of adult mouse/chow diet mouse (ex vivo CD), milk diet mouse (ex vivo MilkD), neonate mouse ( ex vivo NEO), as well as chow diet serum (CDS) and Milk diet serum (MilkDS) treated macrophages were presented in file <i>ex vivo macrophages, ChowDiet and milkDiet serum treated macrophages MoR raw.</i>
