POLLEN, MACROFLORAL, AND AMS RADIOCARBON DATING OF SAMPLES FROM A LATE QUATERNARY FLUVIAL TRENCH IN KINGSTON, JAMAICA

Sediment samples from a fluvial trench of late Quaternary age in Kingston, Jamaica, were examined for pollen to establish a pollen record. These samples also were floated to recover charred macrofloral remains suitable for AMS radiocarbon dating. In the absence of macroscopic fragments of charred organic material, the sediment samples were processed to obtain microscopic charcoal and/or organic material for dating.
