Hospitalizations in Barranquila, Colombia, 2007-2022

This dataset is part of the ESCALA (Study of Urban Health and Climate Change in Informal Settlements in Latin America) project that was funded by the Lacuna Fund of the Meridian Institute https://lacunafund.org/. These data are all reported hospitalizations in the municipality of Barranquilla, Colombia, 2007-2022. The data were downloaded from the national health database platform (SIVIGILA). The downloaded data were not validated or verified independently. Not all possible causes of hospitalization are included in the original dataset. The following preprocessing errors were identified: (1) Duplicate records, these were removed (2) records with unidentified cause of hospitalization, these were removed. Each record includes date of hospitalization, age, sex and primary cause of hospitalization.
