Though predicted in the 1960s, Magneto Chiral Dichroism (MD) has been observed several decades latter and almost exclusively in the UV-visible range. Some of us recently published a validation of the microscopic theory behind magnetochiral dichroism in the UV-visible range, based on experimental observations on chiral [M(en)3](NO3)2 coordination complexes. We propose here to pursue this study in the X-ray range, in order to detect the exceedingly rare X-ray Magneto Chiral Dichroism (XMChiD).
Following a series of papers where we have been measuring the interaction of X-rays with chiral crystals, we aim at measuring the X-ray Magneto Chiral Dichroism (XMChiD) at the Co K-edge. From our previous extensive measurements of X-ray Natural Circular Dichroism (XNCD) we have selected the [Co(en)3](NO3)2 crystal for which we expect that a "large" XMChiD signal should be observed and we plan to record the angular dependence of XMChiD that up to now has never been measured.
