Areas of use for electricity generation

The topic gives an overview of the suitability of areas for hydrothermal geothermal power generation.Differences will be areas with favourable and possibly less favourable geological conditions. According to today’s knowledge, the greatest potential for hydrothermal power generation lies in the Malm of the southern German Molasse Basin. The evaluation is based on a blend of temperature maps of different depth levels with the depth of the Purbeck or Malm surface (limit criterion 100 °C). In addition, the possible permeability distribution in the malm was taken into account. The geometries of the areas of use are generalised and designed for the viewing scale 1:250,000. The data set provides a basis for large-scale considerations and does not replace the conduct of detailed investigations.
