This paper aims to examine the relationship between utopia and dystopia in George Orwell's work. Starting from an exam of the relationship between dystopia and science fiction and leaning on Gary Saul Morson's theory of parody, we will try to show how George Orwell's work is dystopian. In fact, dystopia does not only concern Orwellian masterpiece on Big Brother, but it affects the whole Orwellian literary production. As proof of this thesis, we will compare 1984 with one of the previous novels, Keep the Aspidistra Flying.
