资源简介:
BACKGROUND With a commitment to nurturing new screen talent and pushing the boundaries of Australian content, the researcher uses collaborative approaches to filmmaking that challenge audiences with social and cultural issues. This can be seen with her central involvement in Screen Australia's 'Gender Matters' initiative, with which Maslin challenges both industry approaches to film production and screen representations of women. A practitioner who collaborates in research projects and fora on these very topics, Maslin uses her role as producer/director to bring together creative talent and subject matter in order to tell stories critical to Australia's social, cultural and political history. Both social justice and artistic vision guide her intent. CONTRIBUTION 'Harry Seidler' is the first documentary retrospective of Seidler's architectural legacy. The film reveals an intimate portrait of his extraordinary life and internationally recognised work. Seidler is acclaimed as one of the greatest modernist architects. He won every architectural major prize in Australia, is represented in every major city, and was embraced internationally. This work typifies the producer's approach to distributing unique, untold stories that contribute significantly to Australia's cultural history. SIGNIFICANCE This film marks 10 years since the death of the architect, and is the first retrospective of his work. Investigating Seidler's legacy in this popular, audiovisual format contributes and important architectural history to Australian and international audiences. It was developed with the assistance of Screen NSW & Film Victoria; produced with the assistance of Screen Australia & Film Victoria; and had assistance from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
