Polymer porous membranes are widely used as filters in various industrial applications. Characterizing the pore structures in their operating condition, i.e., hydrated states, is essential because the structure is affected by the environment. X-ray imaging techniques can potentially be utilized for the wet imaging of pores. However, irradiation-induced deformation of samples hinders high-resolution imaging. To overcome this challenge, we propose X-ray nano-holotomography on hydrated membranes under cryogenic conditions. This experiment will enhance our understanding of the structure-performance relationships in membrane science.
