S.minutiscleroticus cells survive for long period under nutrient starved condition. there is evidence for a genetic programme effecting long term survival. we attempted to identify the genes important for survival by RNA sequencing of transcripts differentially expressed in the cells surviving starvation with those grown to exponential phase.
