We will generate whole genome sequence of a representative isolate of this epidemic group in order to determine its phylogenetic relationship and microevolutionary features that are in common or distinguish this pathogen from previously dominant multidrug resistant Salmonella Typhimurium. This is a newly emergent epidemic multi-drug resistant type that is likely to be the dominant S. Typhimurium associated with outbreaks in Europe over the next 10-20 years.
