16s rRNA gene analysis of cultured wooden board bacterial community

Wooden boards serve as a reservoir for microflora, important for cheese ripening. Since Listeria monocytogenes contamination is a serious concern in the cheese production environment, it will be significant to characterize the cultured wooden boards bacteria with and without the presence of the pathogen under laboratory conditions. So, we performed paired-end amplicon sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene V4 region on an Illumina MiSeq to evaluate bacteria present in a cultured wooden bacterial community of five wooden boards used for cheese ripening.
