DATASET FOR STUDY: Surface Effects on the Enhanced Paper Grip Test Results in Healthy Adults

This study evaluated the enhanced paper grip test (EPGT) across different surfaces to assess its practicality and reliability. Twenty healthy adults performed the test on paper, cardboard, and linoleum, and static friction coefficients of these surfaces were quantified using controlled mechanical testing. EPGT outputs were largely comparable across surfaces. Despite measurable differences in friction (paper > linoleum > cardboard), these did not correspond to differences in EPGT results. The EPGT demonstrated excellent relative reliability (ICC = 0.96–0.98), whereas absolute reliability was moderate to poor (CV = 7–12%). Strong to very strong correlations among surfaces (r = 0.75–0.94) further confirmed minimal surface influence. These findings indicate that the EPGT is robust and feasible across diverse testing environments, while its moderate absolute reliability suggests that procedures such as averaging repeated trials may be required for accurate monitoring on individual level.
