State-dependent assessment of the deposit–credit channel in Latin America

This dataset contains monthly country-level macro-financial data for nine Latin American economies: Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Uruguay, Panama, Guatemala, and Venezuela, covering the period from December 2000 to October 2024. The file dataset_IMF_IFS.csv includes banking and monetary aggregates obtained from the IMF International Financial Statistics (IFS), such as credit to the private sector, deposit components (transferable and other deposits), currency in circulation, broad money, net foreign assets, and claims on nonresidents. The zip file also contains country-specific text files, where the last digits correspond to the country code. These files provide supplementary documentation and metadata related to the original statistical series. The data are intended to support replication and further research on banking dynamics, capital flows, and macro-financial conditions in emerging economies.
