<em>Camellia tamdaoensis</em> is a perennial evergreen shrub of the <em>Camellia</em> family, Theaceae. It is mainly distributed in northern Vietnam. In this study, Illumina sequencing data were used to assemble the complete chloroplast genome sequence of <em>C._tamdaoensis</em> and submitted to NCBI (accession number: OP066526). The chloroplast genome is 156,633 bp in length, with an GC bias of 37.3%, including a large single-copy ( LSC ) region of 86,246 bp and a small single-copy ( SSC ) region of 18,284 bp, separated by a pair of inverted repeat (IR) regions of 26,050 bp. The complete genome contains 132 genes, including 89 protein-coding genes, 35 tRNAs and 8 rRNAs. A phylogenetic tree reconstructed from 26 complete chloroplast genomes indicates that <em>C._tamdaoensis </em>is a sister group to the <em>C._aurea</em> clade.
