Microbiome and Inflammatory Interactions in Obese and Severe Asthmatic Adults

Diet and microbiome interactions induce complex immunoregulatory effects that influence the development of chronic inflammatory diseases, such as asthma. In order to identify potential interactions with the host immunoregulatory processes in asthma and obesity, we characterized the gut and airway microbiome compositions via 16S rRNA gene sequencing and measured lung gene expression via RNA-seq in a clinical cohort of obese and non-obese asthmatics and healthy subjects.
