Pantoea asturiensis (proposed name) is a plant-associated bacterium isolated from the endosphere of Salix atrocinerea (black willow) growing on an highly arsenic contaminated soil in Asturias, Spain. The bacterium has the capacity to reduce arsenic and to promote plant growth, and therefore could potentially be used in phytoremediation applications.
