Danish Gallup Omnibus Data, 1959 comprises 52 omnibus surveys carried out by the Danish Gallup Institute in 1959. #Each omnibus consists of a number of recurring questions common to all of the omnibuses of the year and, for most surveys, a number of special questions dealing with topical events. Due to replication of the special questions, some surveys have been merged into clusters. # #The recurring questions of the 1959 omnibus series deal with: the respondent's residence according to degree of urbanization; the respondent's sex, age, marital status, occupational status, type of wages and income; the income of the family; the occupational status of the head of household and of the housewife; the size and composition of the family (including the number of children and adults); the respondent's social group and political affiliation; the type of dwelling and whether the household owns a garden and/or a weekend cottage; and frequency of visits to the cinema. # #The special questions deal with such issues as: # #Omnibuses 01, 02, 03 and 04 (DDA-0427): #No special questions. # #Omnibuses 05, 06 and 07 (DDA-0428): #The radio programme 'Kvit eller Dobbelt' (Double or Quits); the Government and Danish membership of NATO; and relations between doctors, patients and patients' families. # #Omnibus no. 08 (DDA-0429): #Missiles with nuclear warheads in the Danish Air Force; an official invitation to Khrushchev for a visit to Denmark, Norway and Sweden; the radio programme 'Kvit eller Dobbelt' (Double or Quits); the Government and Danish membership of NATO; and relations between doctors, patients and patients' families. # #Omnibuses 09, 10 and 11 (DDA-0430): #Missiles with nuclear warheads in the Danish Air Force; and an official invitation to Khrushchev for a visit to Denmark. # #Omnibuses 12, 13 and 14 (DDA-0431): #No special questions. # #Omnibuses 15, 16 and 17 (DDA-0432): #The independence of Algeria; would Denmark's economic situation be better or worse under a Liberal-Conservative government (instead of under the present Government); and German democracy: is it stable or is a new dictatorship to be expected? # #Omnibus no. 18 (DDA-0433): #Bridges over the Sound and over the Great Belt; assessment of the relations between citizens and public authorities (state and local authorities); assessment of 5 heads of state (Khrushchev, Adenauer, de Gaulle, MacMillan and Eisenhower); abolition of film censorship; opinion of Danish films; and NATO's contribution to security. # #Omnibuses 19, 20 and 21 (DDA-0434): #Bridges over the Sound and over the Great Belt; assessment of the relations between citizens and public authorities (state and local authorities); assessment of 5 heads of state (Khrushchev, Adenauer, de Gaulle, MacMillan and Eisenhower); abolition of film censorship; opinion of Danish films; NATO's contribution to security; publicly authorized gambling and private gambling; and best Danish actor and actress. # #Omnibus no. 22 (DDA-0435): #Publicly authorized gambling and private gambling; and best Danish actor and actress. # #Omnibuses 23, 24, 25 and 26 (DDA-0436): #The ability of animals to think; which hand the respondent prefers using; the penalty for fraudulent tax evasion; Spanish membership of NATO; and tax reductions. # #Omnibus no. 27 (DDA-0437): #No special questions. # #Omnibuses 28, 29, 30 and 31 (DDA-0438): #The Cold War; sex instruction in schools; the European Common Market (the EC), and the European Free Trade Area (EFTA); the use of road funds; and Denmark's membership of NATO. # #Omnibuses 32, 33 and 34 (DDA-0439): #Infidelity as a ground for divorce with immediate effect; and assessment of the Government's performance. # #Omnibuses 35, 36, 37, 38, 39 and 40 (DDA-0440): #Infidelity as a ground for divorce with immediate effect; assessment of the Government's performance; the possibilities of disarmament after the summit meeting between Eisenhower and Khrushchev; China's representation in the United Nations (The People's Republic or Formosa China); which characteristics are important in a man and a woman in order to have a happy marriage; social intercourse with neighbours; and what the respondent was doing on the previous evening between 8 and 10 o'clock. # #Omnibuses 41, 42, 43, 44, 45 and 46 (DDA-0441): #Social intercourse with neighbours; lotteries; the best years of men and women; and Denmark's contribution to NATO. # #Omnibuses 47, 48 and 49 (DDA-0442): #Denmark's contribution to NATO; the intelligence and morality of politicians as compared with the rest of the population; tax on cars; good and evil human beings; and the more and more provocative clothes of women. # #Omnibuses 50, 51 and 52 (DDA-0443): #No special questions. # #Unless otherwise stated, the rest of this study description deals with the recurring questions only.
