VPRS 3677 Register of Refunds - Crown Lands

This series was used to record details of refunds made by the Department of Crown Lands and Survey to selectors who had succeeded in purchasing their blocks. Each page is divided into columns noting the refund number, name of applicant, reason for refund (usually for overpayment of rent or transfer of survey fees), the pay office where the original payment was made, the amount refunded and details regarding the actual payment of the refund (i.e. the District Land Office to where the refund was sent, the date it was sent, the refund amount and date it was collected) . The column noting the reason for the refund usually contains a reference number noting where correspondence relating to the refund was placed. This number refers to either the land selection files of the applicant or other correspondence files of the Department.
