Recent studies have shown that the sensitized and excited nerves innervating the tumor establish intimate communications with cancer cells by releasing various tumor-stimulating factors for tumor progression. To understand the mechanism by which interactions of cancer cells and SNs regulate tumor growth in bone, we aimed to identify molecules released from DRGs in communication with cancer cells. Rat pulmonary carcinoma cells (IP-B12) which show osteolytic tumor growth in bone marrow were inoculated into the bone marrow cavity of the right tibiae in rat under general anesthesia. DRGs were collected from rat followed by the isolation of RNA. DRGs of left tibia were used as control.
