A studying treatments of soil and water conservation on betel nut plantation

The purpose of this project is to study the treatments of soil and water conservation on betele nut plantation. The study results showed that run off and soil losses of betel nut plantation were larger than those of China fir plantation. Based on observation data of different soilconservation treatment plots under 368mm of total rainfall for betel nut plantation, runoff ratios for treatment of Bahia cover, hillside ditch and Bahia cover, grass cover, hillside ditch and grass cover, and China fir plantaion were 0.4, 0.22, 0.49, 0.3, 1, 0.16 respectively. The results also showed that soil conservation practices could protect soil, and decrease overland flow about 50%~66%.
