Gene flow on an invasion front

Invasive species expand rapidly despite encountering a series of evolutionary barriers during range expansion. It is possible that gene flow between range-edge populations is essential to mediating some of these barriers. By studying patterns of genetic diversity and gene flow between populations at the range edge, we can determine the pattern of invasion and the likely vectors for spread.
