College Students’ Intergroup Interaction Survey

Research background: In the field of intergroup contact, direct intergroup contact is considered an effective way to reduce intergroup bias and improve intergroup attitudes. However, in reality, direct opportunities are often limited due to factors such as contact opportunities, primal biases, and intergroup anxiety. In recent years, extended intergroup contact (where a friend's friend is a friend) has received increasing attention as an indirect form of contact. It is believed that there is no need to establish direct intergroup friendships, but rather the fact that members of the inner group have friends from other groups can reduce individuals' bias towards the outer group. This contact method to some extent compensates for the shortcomings of direct contact in practical applications. However, the lack of effective measurement tools in this field undoubtedly hinders further exploration. Objective: Develop and validate an extensible intergroup exposure scale Data collection method: After obtaining informed consent from the subjects, valid data were collected from 644 college students from three universities in Sichuan, Gansu, and Hainan.
