High-resolution orthophoto mosaic and LiDAR point clouds for Shawnigan Lake, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada

This dataset contains high-resolution airborne LiDAR point cloud data and an orthophoto mosaic covering the Shawnigan Lake region on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The data were acquired on October 20, 2010, and include a large collection of georeferenced LiDAR tiles in LAS format, a full orthophoto mosaic, and a data acquisition report documenting survey conditions and processing details . The LiDAR component consists of multiple tiled point cloud files representing discrete-return laser measurements, enabling fine-scale analysis of elevation, surface features, and vegetation structure. These data can be used to derive digital elevation models (DEMs), canopy height models (CHMs), and other terrain or vegetation metrics. Data can be opened as raster layers in GIS software. Quality assurance and projection validation were performed through visual inspection in QGIS 3.44.
