The series consists of volumes of minutes of meetings of the State Mines Control Board and State Mines Control Authority, recording the discussions, decisions and recommendations made by these bodies.The minutes deal with subjects such as supplies and equipment for mines, shunting arrangements, acquisitions and sales of mines, appointment of staff, wages, income and expenditure, valuations of mines, improvements in mine conditions (e.g. better ventilation), testing of coal, employee housing, operations at named mines (e.g. Lithgow, Oakdale, Liddell), and reports from key staff (e.g. engineers, and managers of individual mines).Indexes to the minutes are held in NRS 17268.
