资源简介:
Eleven soil samples were removed from a stratigraphic column on the
east wall of excavation unit (XU) 61 at 32DU285 for pollen and phytolith
analysis (Table 1). In addition, a twelfth sample was taken from a fluvial
deposit below the level of the stratigraphic column and south of XU 61,
which dates to the late Wisconsin or early Holocene Period. The site is
located on the edge of a bluff overlooking the Knife River in north-central
Dunn County, North Dakota. The purpose of the pollen and phytolith study is
to evaluate the paleoenvironment from the stratigraphic profile sampled,
particularly during the periods of occupation at this site. Site 32DU285 is
a multi-component site with the cultural deposits ranging from the present
ground surface to a depth of 45 cm below the surface.
