资源简介:
This evaluation study identifies factors influencing Client-initiated Repeat Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) testing (CIRT) among HIV-positive adults, in a PEPFAR supported HIV care and treatment program, in Nigeria. We collected data from January to March 2020 using a semi-structured interviewer administered questionnaire, abstraction from Electronic Medical Records, Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). A few data elements collected include: socio-demographic characteristics (e.g date of birth/age, gender, educational status, relationship status, religion, employment status, and type of occupation), psychosocial data (such as disclosure), behavioral data (such as adherence) and clinical data such as date of HIV diagnosis and date of ART initiation. Results reveal a significantly higher prevalence of CIRT among surveyed clients aged 30-39 years (P-value = 0.007) and that CIRT is influenced by factors such as like misconceptions about HIV treatment and care after long term use of ARVs, doubt and self-denial of initial HIV diagnosis, religion, health facility where treatment is being received and traditional/cultural factors.
