Gut microbiome composition of spinal fusion patients

The goal of this study was to evaluate the composition of the gut microbiome of patients undergoing spinal fusion surgery immediately before and 6 weeks following the procedure to investigate potential relationships between the composition of the gut microbiome and bone mineral density in this patient population. This study is relevant because it demonstrates a link between bone mineral density and gut microbiome composition in a key patient population.
