Election Dataset

The MPSEC dataset refers to the data collected by the Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission in India. It is utilized in research and studies, particularly in the context of k-anonymization and l-diversity approaches for preserving privacy in big data publishing.This dataset contains an anonymized and structured compilation of candidate information from Indian local body elections across multiple wards. The original dataset included personally identifiable information such as candidate names, mobile numbers, and residential addresses. To ensure privacy, ethical use, and compliance with data-protection norms, all direct identifiers have been removed, and candidate names have been pseudonymized using irreversible SHA-256 hashing.The dataset preserves essential socio-demographic and electoral variables, including age, gender, caste category, marital status, education level, occupation, ward number, and election designation (e.g., Councilor/Parshad). These attributes make the dataset highly valuable for political science research, civic data analysis, governance studies, and machine-learning applications related to electoral behavior.The data is cleaned, standardized, and formatted in a machine-readable spreadsheet (XLSX), making it suitable for quantitative analysis, modeling, visualization, and feature engineering.
