This de novo genome assembly was created from long-read data, extracted from a cultivated Sarracenia alata specimen of a pure clonal line. It was polished using short-read data, extracted from a wild S. alata specimen from Abita Springs, Louisiana. This genome was created for the purpose of studying the evolutionary convergence of plant carnivory (as several other carnivorous plant genomes are also available) as well as to serve as a reference for pitcher fluid metatranscriptome studies.
