Setosphaeria turcica is one of the most destructive northern corn leaf blight pathogen. To infecte maize, the pathogenic fungi develop specialized infection structures called appressorium. In order to clarify this infection mechanism, we performed transcriptome sequencing at different stages of appressorium development, found some appressorium-specific expression genes, verified and demonstrated the mechanism of the process of resistance between plant pathogenic fungi and host plants.
