资源简介:
M6 - National Weather Service Rawinsonde Data
The Southern Oxidants Study (SOS) conducted a major field research
campaign in Nashville/Middle Tennessee area in June and July 1994 and
1995. The goal of this study was to improve scientific understanding
of the processes that control the production and distribution of ozone
in the troposphere.
These data are a compilation of 00Z and 12Z rawinsonde data for the
time period from June 1 through July 31, 1995 for the following eight
stations: Birmingham, AL (BMX); Nashville, TN (BNA); Peachtree City,
GA (FFC); Huntington, WV (HTS); Jackson, MS (JAN); Little Rock, AR
(LIT); Shreveport, LA (SHV); and Slidell, LA (SIL). These data differ
from routine rawinsonde data that the National Weather Service (NWS)
usually archives in two important respects. First, instead of
reporting data only at mandatory and significant levels, these data
are reported every 6 seconds. Second, instead of being reported in FAA
604 format they are reported in NOAA's CLASS format. Data preceding
the study period (June 19-July 28, 1995) are included to allow
researchers to analyze weather systems leading into the study period.
These data can be downloaded from the Earth System Science Laboratory
web page: http://essl.uah.edu/
The study was conducted from June 01, 1995 through July 31, 1995.
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) was the coordinator for the 1995
Southern Oxidants Study Nashville/Middle Tennessee Ozone Study.
