2008-2022 China Provincial Digital Economy Policies and Digital Platform Enterprises' Total Factor Productivity and Related Data

In order to enhance the accuracy and reliability of the data, the following procedures were implemented: (1) Firstly, companies in the financial sector and those designated as ST (Special Treatment) were excluded in order to prevent industry-specific characteristics and abnormal financial conditions from distorting the results; (2) Secondly, companies newly listed during the year were excluded in order to ensure the selected sample had sufficient market adaptation time and stable data performance; (3) Finally, listed company samples with significant data gaps were excluded in order to guarantee data integrity and consistency. In order to calculate the key indicator of TFP, raw data and firm-level data for control variables were sourced from multiple authoritative channels. These included the CSMAR database, Wind database, and official annual reports of listed companies. It was found that the annual financial reports of listed companies were uniformly sourced from the China Securities Information Network. The data selection period for this research extends from 2008 to 2022. The logarithmic transformation was applied to TFP, and the control variables underwent 1% tail trimming.Secondly, with regard to city-level data, the raw data on digital economy policy intensity were sourced from municipal government websites across China. The regional data were primarily sourced from the China City Statistical Yearbook and the China Marketization Index, with missing values for certain years and regions addressed through linear interpolation. Following the matching of digital platform enterprises, the total number of observations in this research was 3,904. Following the elimination of observations with excessive missing values and the exclusion of outliers, such as extreme maxima and minima, the final number of observations was 3,488 .
