Dataset for Mechanical Intelligence in Propulsion via Flexible Caudal Fins

This is the dataset for the manuscript: Mechanical Intelligence in Propulsion via Flexible Caudal Fins - https://doi.org/10.48550/arXiv.2503.23652. Important Details Fin-R_MembraneData.zip, Fin-R_MembraneData.zip, and Fin-IF_MembraneData.zip contain the unstructured membrane data and can be postprocessed using markerPostProc.ipynb The files drag_lift_body_001.Fin-R.dat, drag_lift_body_001.Fin-IF.dat, and drag_lift_body_001.Fin-HF.dat contain the surface-averaged temporal data for thrust, lateral forces, and power. The files TimeAveraged_Fin-HF.dat, TimeAveraged_Fin-IF.dat, and TimeAveraged_Fin-R.dat contain the time and surface-averaged data for thrust, power, and efficiency. Python script genAveragePlots.py can be used to generate plots.
