Data collected during the FLooded Upland Dynamics EXperiment (FLUDEX) at the IISD-Experimental Lakes Area (ELA) in northwestern Ontario, where three upland boreal forest sites were flooded to create experimental reservoirs. Sites were categorized as low, medium, and high carbon based on carbon stored in vegetation, litter, and soil. Measured water budget components for each reservoir include water pumped into each reservoir (inflow), water exiting over weirs, runoff, and direct precipitation inputs. Water chemistry components measured during the experiment include total dissolved nitrogen (TDN), particulate nitrogen (PN), total dissolved phosphorus (TDP), and particulate phosphorus (PP). These components were measured in water pumped into reservoirs (inflow), runoff, water exiting reservoirs over weirs, and within each reservoir at multiple depths in the water column. Other measured components include dissolved oxygen (DO) and water temperature. Nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) content in periphyton was also measured to estimate nutrients stored in reservoirs.
