Sequencing of the first draft genome of C. myersi providing here a novel perspective on the evolutionary loss of globin genes. Here the relevance of gene duplication in icefish evolution was also assessed, and genomic patterns underlying the key role of mitochondria in the biology of this unique group of vertebrates were investigated.
