Agriophyllum squarrosum adapts to the mobile and semi-mobile sand dunes in arid regions of Central Asia and the nutrition values of seeds are very high. The domestication of this species represents a new crop alternative for future food production adapted to harsh climates. However, this species has undergone only little agronomic modifications through classical breeding partly due to the absence of genomic information. To fill in this important gap we here present the first transcriptomic analysis sand rice.
